MARQUIS DE GOULAINE
For over 1000 years, nobility, heritage and expertise have all combined here, offering in the Loire Valley a jewel of architecture and wines valued all world round. Today, Robert, the 11th Marquis de Goulaine, and his son Mathieu are in charge of preserving these timeless treasures. The first millenary of Goulaine was bright, the next is already on its way… Built around 950, in the heart of the present Nantes wine region, reconstructed by the end of the 15th century and listed as a historical monument, Goulaine is the most westerly of all the Loire Valley castles. Owned by one of the oldest wine-producer families, Goulaine remains one of the last Loire chateaux still holding its own vineyards

Tasting Note
This is a great little Loire Valley Sauvignon Blanc. It may not quite be a Sancerre but it still shows some fresh gooseberry and a hint of riper tropical fruit. There is a subtle herbal note on the finish, which is classic Sauvignon, and the acidity gives it a fresh lift at the end. This is definitely a wine to have in the rack as it will appeal to many white wine fans.
Food pairing
Ideal in combination with dishes of pork; spicy food, vegetarian, goat cheese and shellfish.
