Lots of blackcurrant and hot-stone character on the nose. Full and tannic with a chewy finish. Shows structure. Very well done. (4/2017)

93. Barrel Sample. Packed with black currant acidity, this juicy wine comes from an improving estate. It has plenty of generous fruit cut by intense acidity. The wine's balance suggests cellaring until 2026. (RV) (4/2017)

Again, this is a vintage where Croizet Bages has inched forward in quality - it's noticeable and should be congratulated because it remains great value as far as classified Pauillacs go. This needs time in the glass to open up as it has an extremely rich tannic structure. It's masculine in style; a hefty, good quality, savoury character that builds extremely slowly and surely in a confident way. Matured in 50% new oak. Eric Boissenot consults. (JA) (10/2018)

The 2016 Croizet Bages has a clean and well-defined bouquet with tobacco-tinged black fruit, conservative but nicely focused. The palate is medium-bodied with quite firm and grainy tannin. It displays some elegance towards the finish, something that I do not always find in this Pauillac growth and it may well mature into a fine, probably earlier-drinking 2016 compared to its peers. But there is a sense of style in situ. (NM) (4/2017)

An impressive, fruit-loaded, fleshy Pauillac, the 2016 Château Croizet-Bages offers a deep ruby/purple colour as well as a complex bouquet of dark fruits, leafy herbs, and truffle. With good mid-palate depth, a chewy, medium to full-bodied texture, and outstanding length, it has plenty to love and should keep for 10-15 years. (2/2019)
Vinous
The 2016 Croizet-Bages is a very pretty and expressive Pauillac to drink now and over the next handful of years. Sweet red cherry and plum fruit are nicely lifted by bright floral and citrus overtones. 2016 is perhaps a touch straightforward, but it is delicious just the same. (AG) (1/2019)
